As I said when we opened 2 Corinthians a couple of weeks ago, this is most certainly Paul’s most emotionally revealing letter. It shows us Paul’s heart, which is expressed again here near the close of the letter.
Paul was willing to love in truth. Meaning he would not set aside truth (even painful truth) because he was afraid to challenge or hurt those whom he loved. No, because he loved in truth, he would speak the truth (even painful truth) in love, even if it might temporarily cause strain in fellowship.
