He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

– Revelation 22:20

These are Jesus’ last words. “Surely I am coming quickly.” And we who look for His appearing wait in anticipation for the fulfillment of this prophetic promise. One day these words will be fulfilled.

Today’s goal

Live in expectancy of the return of Jesus.

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

– Revelation 21:15

Thew New Year begins in just 48 hours. I’m not sure what it has been like for you, but 2015 has been a crazy one for me. I’m looking forward to 2016. But more than that, I’m looking forward to the day when Jesus makes all things new.

Revelation 21 speaks of a new heaven, a new earth, a new Jerusalem and all things just plain new. It is new as in “fresh” and “unworn.” In 2 Corinthians 5:1 Paul writes that one day we will also receive new bodies. Again in 1 Corinthians 15:52-54 Paul reveals that this corrupted, mortal body will one day put on an uncorrupted, immortal body. That sounds like good news to me.

Today’s goal

As we step into a new year that has never been lived in, rejoice that one day we’ll step with new bodies into a fresh, unworn world with Jesus.

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

– Revelation 20:14

There is a day of reckoning and recompense coming. There will be justice and judgment for the guilty, and there will be no escape from God’s wrath upon unrighteousness. This is a sobering reality. But amidst the awfulness of it, we must not forget that God will be righteous in the execution of His wrath.

Today’s goal

Extend God’s grace and forgiveness to someone that has yet to receive it.

– Revelation 19:6

Amidst all the terrible things that dominate the news cycle from day to day, it is important to keep this reality, prophesied in Revelation, in your heart and mind. There is coming a day in which we, with thousands and thousands and millions of saints will worship the Lord God Omnipotent who will reign for eternity. That’s the endgame. Don’t lose sight of it.

Today’s goal

Hold fast to your hope of a glorious future without wavering.

Merry Christmas!

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

– Isaiah 9:6-7

The Book of Revelation reminds us that His government and peace will be everlasting. Just as Isaiah prophesied 2,800 years ago.

Today’s goal

Enjoy the celebration of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

– Revelation 17:14

In the end, Jesus wins. He will overcome all rivals and opponents, because He is the Lord of lords and King of kings. He is supreme and supremely powerful over all foes. Amidst all the misery of this fallen world, it is important to remember and hold tightly to the fact that in the end He wins.

Today’s goal

Seek to maintain an optimistic vision of the future, based upon the fact that Jesus has been and will continue to be victorious. In Him we are more than conquerors.

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
And You have given them blood to drink.
For it is their just due.”

– Revelation 16:6

I think it is important to remember that God’s wrath is justly deserved by those upon which it will come. Romans 1 says that “the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.” His judgment is not arbitrary. He is just and will judge iniquity, transgression and sin.

Today’s goal

Rejoice in that God’s justice will always be justly meted out.

Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete.

– Revelation 15:1

I am thankful that the wrath of God will not continue for ages and ages. Revelation 15:1 pictures an end; a light at the end of the tunnel. Because of God’s mercy and grace, we read in Psalm 103…

He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.

– Psalm 103:9

I’m convinced that God’s mercy will ultimately triumph, and He will cease from the outpouring of His wrath.

Today’s goal

Remember mercy in your dealings with others today.

Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle.

– Revelation 14:14

There is coming a day when we will see the Son of Man, coming again upon the clouds. For the last 2,000 years, in every generation of the church, there have been those that eagerly anticipated that His coming would be in there lifetime. But to this point, the Lord has seen fit to wait. That being the case, there must be more work to be done, until He is ready to come again. The vision of Revelation 14 will one day come and though the Lord continues to delay for another 100 or 1,000 years, or more, we need to maintain our pattern of waiting, watching and working.

Today’s goal

Be a watchful waiter, working for the Lord until He returns.

Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.

– Revelation 13:6

Want to know a sure way to arose the anger of Almighty God? Speak blaspheme against His mighty name.

In the 7th & 8th centuries BC, the Assyrians arose as the powerful military force of the day, until their King (Sennacherib) blasphemed God. There,  on the mountains of Jerusalem, in response to Sennacherib’s blasphemy, God’s mighty power destroyed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night.

Today’s goal

Remember, “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7)
