Matthew 3
Devotional
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
– Matthew 3:2
Years have passed from the narrative of Matthew chapter 2 to that of Matthew chapter 3. Jesus is no longer a child, but an adult, preparing to step on to the stage, to fulfill His mission. But prior to the advent of His ministry, one has come to “prepare the way of the Lord” in fulfillment of God’s word through the Prophet Isaiah.
John the Baptist was a voice crying in the wilderness, making the people ready for the Messiah. After more than 4 centuries of silence, God was once again crying out to His people, and His message was clear, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” As we’ll hear tomorrow, Jesus’ early message will be identical to John’s.
Today’s Goal
Are you ready for the Kingdom of Heaven? Is there anything in your life right now that needs to be renounced and turned away from? If so, repent!
