They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

– Mark 1:18

Today we begin the second book of the New Testament; the Gospel of Mark. Mark is accentuated by a faster pace than the other 3 gospels. Throughout this gospel you will hear the word “immediately.” In fact, it’s used 8 times in the first chapter, and 36 times in the whole book. Mark has a focal point upon which he hopes we’ll fix our attention and gaze. Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. Nearly 40% of this gospel is devoted to the last eight days of Jesus’ life, culminating in His resurrection. Mark aims to show that Jesus is the eternal Son of God who came to earth to serve and not be served, to give His life a ransom for many.
