John 6
Devotional
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
– John 6:35
The Gospel of John is built around seven signs (miracles) of Jesus and seven “I Am” statements. This is the first of the seven statements; “I am the bread of life.”
Chapter 6 also presents the third of Jesus’ seven signs; the feeding of the 5,000. It’s important to keep track of and take note of these signs and statements as the signs substantiate the veracity of the statements. In other words, the miraculous works that Jesus performs (water into win, the healing of the lame man and now the feeding of the 5,000) prove authentic the message that He speaks. The words and works go hand-in-hand.
