Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
– 1 Corinthians 4:2
Paul considered himself, and desired to be known as a servant of Christ and a steward of the mysteries of God (1 Corinthians 4:1). As an aside, Paul comments that faithfulness is the standard of success (and actually the requirement) for stewards of God. This is what God looks for in His servants, faithfulness.
Frankly, this is the number 1 thing that I am watching for when seeking future leaders in our church. Ability varies. Availability is important. But reliability and dependability are essential.
