2 Timothy 1
Devotional
Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
– 2 Timothy 1:6-7
It has been long believed and taught that Timothy, Paul’s protégé, was sometimes subject to timidity. He, for some reason or another, was not as bold as his mentor. But Paul, in his second letter to Timothy—and what would end up being the last letter he ever wrote—would exhort his friend and disciple to stir up the gift that God had given him and to not be fearful.
I think all of us, at some level, suffer from a similar issue. We probably need to be reminded to stir it up and be bold too… for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but the power of His Spirit!
