Hebrews 11
Devotional
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
– Hebrews 11:1 NIV
I heard a preacher quote Hebrews 11:1 from the New International Version recently and it caught my attention. I’ve always loved the New King James translation of this verse: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” But the NIV really jumped out to me. “Faith is confidence in what we hope for.” Though we may not see God and have no physical proof of heaven, faith is the very confidence we have in Him and His promised heaven. It may seem like a blind faith to some, but it is not an unreasonable faith. God has shown Himself faithful, therefore I have confident hope and assurance in His faithfulness.
