– Hebrews 8:1
In Hebrews 7 the author jumped into the topic of the priesthood of Melchizedek. Much has been written and said about Melchizedek and often the focus is upon Melchizedek the person in Genesis 14. But The author of Hebrews reminds us here that the priesthood is more important than the person. “This is the main point!” Jesus is our High Priest. He has a greater priesthood than that of the law. therefore He is able to mediate a better covenant than that of the Levitical priests.
Though it may not make perfect sense, I can tell you for sure, it’s good news! Jesus is a much better priest, and the only one that is needed.
