And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.
– Matthew 10:1
At the close of Matthew 9 Jesus exhorted His disciples to pray for laborers to fulfill the work of Jesus. Immediately upon doing so, Jesus answers their prayer by sending them out. But before He did, He empowered them for the work.
Yes, you should pray for laborers to go out into the harvest, and yes, you should be ready to be the answer to your prayer. But do not thing that you will step into this work without the help of God. Just as He did 2,000 years ago, Jesus still empowers His servants.
