Luke 5
Devotional
“But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
– Luke 5:24
It is clearly much easier to utter the words “your sins are forgiven you” than to say “arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” The former has no test by which to scrutinize the potency of the words. But the latter must have an immediate miraculous outcome, or the speaker (Jesus) were clearly a fraud. But “Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.”
