2 Corinthians 2
For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you.
– 2 Corinthians 2:4
More than any of Paul’s letters, this second epistle to the Corinthians is the most personal and revealing of Paul’s character. His first letter was challenging and forceful, this is tender and heartfelt. One gets the sense that Paul questioned the tone of his first letter. Though I, like many others, am grateful for the strong exhortations of the first. But I am equally grateful for the tender compassion of the second.
