And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.

– 2 Corinthians 12:15

Sometimes it feels as though our hard fought efforts to spend ourselves in the endeavor for men’s souls is all for not. That the expenditure of love is in vain. But Paul says, “even if it is in vain, I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls.”

May the love of Christ so compel us to do the same.
