2 Corinthians 4
Devotional
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen aretemporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
– 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Every time I read these words I think of my friend Mike Callahan who served Christ faithfully for nearly a decade, battling a massive brain tumor. I’m fairly certain these were his favorite verses. I can remember him sharing them many times, and if anyone was the perfect personification of this truths, it was him. He’s been with Jesus now longer than he’d suffered the devastation of cancer. And he’ll be with Jesus forever, enjoying a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
