Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.

– Galatians 2:11-12

Some people have a near panic attack at the mere hint of any sort of confrontation. Apparently Paul wasn’t such an individual. Hear, early in his ministry, and as something of an outsider to the early church leadership, he openly withstood (and effectively rebuked) the Apostle Peter for his cowardice and hypocrisy.

I think that’s what we’d call “chutzpah.”
