Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

– Hebrews 13:8

Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. The One who was, and is, and is to come. He does not change. Which means that His promises will not fail.

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

– Hebrews 12:14

The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans, “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” The children of God are peacemakers. In fact, that’s exactly what Jesus teaches in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:9).

How are you pursuing and permitting peace in your life, today?

…of whom the world was not worthy.

— Hebrews 11:38

the New Living Translation says “They were too good for this world.” What a statement! The men and women of faith were so great in their faith that the world didn’t deserve such greatness.

May we be of the same calibre of faith and faithfulness!

For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

By one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. It’s done, forever. His is the all sufficient sacrifice once for all.

And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

– Hebrews 9:22

Without Christ’s sacrifice not the cross, there is no justification, sanctification or future glorification. He is the only way of salvation!

Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.

– Hebrews 8:1-2

I love that the author of Hebrews, after spending nearly all of Chapter 7 trudging through the thick teaching regarding Melchizedek, sums it all up saying, “This is the main point of what we’re saying!”

The main point is this; Jesus is our great High Priest!

for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

– Hebrews 7:19

“The law made nothing perfect.” This is a truth we need to be regularly reminded of. Perfection, holiness and righteousness are not the products of the law. The law exposes our imperfections and unrighteousness. It cannot make you holy. Christ, by His word and the working of His Spirit is sanctifying and cleansing us unto righteousness.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

– Hebrews 5:12

We cannot be content with perpetual immaturity as Christians. We must stir one another up to love and good deeds, moving on to solid food by obedience and the exercise of Godliness.

Don’t be content with the status quo!
