He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

– Revelation 22:20

We, the church, look forward with joyful expectation to the revelation of our great and glorious God and Savior. Therefore we say, “Even so come, Lord Jesus! Come quickly!”

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

– Revelation 21:4

Though there are many frightening, dreadful and sobering visions in Revelation, we (the people of God) ultimately have this optimistic vision of the future. One day our God will wipe away every tear from our eyes. One day there shall be no more death. One day sorrow and crying will be no more. One day there shall be no more pain, for all the brokenness of this broken fallen world will pass away.

Lord haste the day!

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

– Revelation 20:14

There will be a judgment. There will be a revelation of the righteous wrath of God. The prophesies surrounding it are sobering.

And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

– Revelation 19:14

The 19th chapter is the true revelation of our conquering King. And as He comes forth to judge and make war, the armies in heaven (likely His church) follow on white horses.

I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

– Revelation 17:6

Whatever the imagery of Revelation 17 means, one thing is clear; this Christ rejecting, sinful and fallen world has long devoured the saints of God. One day God will vindicate His martyrs.

And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”

– Revelation 16:7

Westerners do no like the concept of the judgment(s) of God. Our culture tends to hold such a vision of God as repugnant and awful. But those in God’s presence, when they behold His judgments, they proclaim them to be “true and righteous.” I’m convinced that when we one day see the judgment of God poured out, we too will announce His judgments to be “true and righteous.”

The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

– Revelation 15:8

The revelation of God’s glory is so awesome and hot that no one can approach the fire of His majesty. No wonder Moses could not abide the presence of God’s glory.

saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

– Revelation 14:7

Proverbs 1 says that “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Sadly the revelation of God’s judgment is because of the foolishness of a world that despises wisdom and instruction. If humanity would fear God and give Him the glory He deserves, there would be no need of the hour of His judgment.

All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

– Revelation 13:8

For a long time this verse has been stuck in my mind for the simple fact that Jesus is here referred to as “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” In the realm of time (our realm) Jesus was the slain Lamb on Calvary’s cross, two thousand years ago. But in the unseen realm, outside of time, where God resides, Jesus was the redemptive, sacrificial Lamb before God ever said “let there be light.”

This is a phenomenal reality. It reminds us that God, in His foreknowledge, knew that man would sin and be in need of a sacrificial Savior. It reminds us that God planned our redemption from the beginning. Jesus wasn’t plan B, C or D. He was plan A from before the beginning.
