All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
– Revelation 13:8
For a long time this verse has been stuck in my mind for the simple fact that Jesus is here referred to as “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” In the realm of time (our realm) Jesus was the slain Lamb on Calvary’s cross, two thousand years ago. But in the unseen realm, outside of time, where God resides, Jesus was the redemptive, sacrificial Lamb before God ever said “let there be light.”
This is a phenomenal reality. It reminds us that God, in His foreknowledge, knew that man would sin and be in need of a sacrificial Savior. It reminds us that God planned our redemption from the beginning. Jesus wasn’t plan B, C or D. He was plan A from before the beginning.
