Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

– Revelation 8:12

Revelation 8 begins the “trumpet judgments” of Revelation, and with each sounding of the trumpets comes the devastating judgments of God upon a broken, fallen and sinful world. These words are a sobering reminder that God is just and will one day judge the world.

It is a great blessing to know that there is no judgment for those who are in Christ, who bore our sin and God’s judgment upon sin, for us, on the cross.
