Matthew 6 – The Listening Plan

Most everything we do in this life is for some form of a reward. We’re essentially conditioned from a very early age to seek for a reward. God knows this about us and though we might imagine this aspect of psyche our to be carnal, God still appeals to our desire for reward.

Three times in Matthew 6 Jesus says, “your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” These rewards are for our spiritual services of prayer, good deeds and fasting. And while we might be motivated to do these things for some earthly reward, Jesus seeks to motivate us to continue them for a heavenly eternal reward.
