“But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

– Luke 24:21

The disciples’ hopes were far to small for the true greatness of who Jesus was and what He came to do. And I’m quite certain that I am often guilty of the very same smallness of hope. Jesus did come to redeem Israel. But He came to redeem far more than just Israel. And His redemption was (and is) far bigger than merely earthly and political.

Christ came to redeem us from the curse and power of sin.
