And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council.

– Acts 6:12

Acts 6 and 7 record the story of the martyrdom of Stephen, for his faithful and bold witness of Christ. In yesterday’s post I wrote, “There may very well come a day in which the church will once again need to stand with steadfast boldness by the Spirit, declaring to the religious secularists of our day, “We will obey God rather than man.” But when that day comes we must be ready not only to stand on behalf of Christ but also to potentially suffer for His sake.
