For I wrote to you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you.

This is most certainly Paul’s most emotionally revealing letters. Whereas Romans, Ephesians and many others, allow us to see Paul’s theology and intellect shine, 2 Corinthians shows us Paul’s heart. And not only does it allow us to see the heart of the Apostle, I believe it also reveals the heart of God who inspired him to write it.
