Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.
– Hebrews 2:1
I read this verse, and I got stuck. I realize that sometimes my reading of the Scriptures can be far to casual and quick. There are so many things that are weighing upon my mind; so many to-do’s and pressing needs, that I can do more scanning than reading. And even when I am actually reading, I can fall into the trap of reading only for the exercise of reading, and not reading to truly digest what is written. But we must give the more diligent and careful attention to the things of Scripture, because the Scriptures are a mainstay for our lives.
