Mark 12 is filled with interrogations of Jesus by the religious leaders of the day (Pharisees, Scribes, Herodians, Sadducees, etc.). The perfect passover Lamb is being inspected, in preparation for the sacrifice. In each examination Jesus reveals their ignorance, and ultimately their impure motive, too. Those who should have known the Scriptures and the power of God seemed unfamiliar with both. The greatest sign of their willful blindness to the Scripture and power of God would be their wickedness in justifying the condemnation of Christ, though He was innocent
