And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

– Luke 1:6

Though we do not believe that we can be perfect before God, according to our own efforts, we are told here of Zacharias and Elizabeth that they “were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.”

Righteousness has always been (and will always be) by grace, through faith. But that does not mean that we ought not seek to walk before God blamelessly. And in this respect we have many great men and women of faith, presented in the Scriptures, to follow as examples.
