John 8
Devotional
She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
– John 8:11
When reading through the opening verses of John 8, it needs to be stated that scholars debate whether or not this story should be in the Gospel of John, or not. I recognize that there are challenges regarding it. But the message of it is so clearly in line with the ministry and message of Jesus.
Jesus receives us as we are. The gospel makes clear that Christ accepts us in our fallen and sinful state, and when we come to Him He welcomes us with pardoning grace. But Christ’s aim is to transform us. He receives us in our brokenness, but desires to make us completely new, so that we would “go and sin no more.”
