knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

– Romans 6:6

By the grace and power of God in the Gospel, we have been rescued from sin’s punishment (justification), power (sanctification), and ultimately its presence (glorification). The realty of salvation is that we no longer need to remain shackled as slaves of sin. We no longer need to be under its power.
