Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
– 2 Corinthians 13:5
In much the same way, the Apostle Peter wrote, “Brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure” (2 Peter 1:10). This is an important practice that every Christian should know well. And what are the benchmarks of faith that should be evident? Jesus said, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). The fruit of the Spirit—or the evidence that God’s Spirit is in you—is love.
