For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy.

– 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20

John, in his final writings (2 & 3 John) would speak of his joy and rejoicing in the fact that those of the churches he oversaw, walked in the truth (2 John 1:4, and 3 John 1:4). Paul extends that joy and rejoicing on into our time in heaven. Aside from the fact that we will begin God’s presence (where there is fullness of joy) we will rejoice in the fact that others—perhaps even those whom we prayed for, and shared the gospel with—are there in God’s presence, at His appearing.
